Today, April 23, is a very special day in Catalonia as we are celebrating Sant Jordi! This year, everything goes upside down, but we didn’t want to miss this important piece of culture and tradition, that is why we have had our isolutions secret Sant Jordi 2020!
Sant Jordi is a very special tradition for Catalans, a day that it is custom for couples (families and friends as well) to exchange gifts: books for men and roses for women. However, this has developed over time, so now both men and women receive both objects.
Book and flower stalls are set up along the streets of Barcelona. The streets fill with people walking around stalls, looking for a gift for their loved ones. You would find the latest publications, see well-known artists signing copies of their books, and of course, smell the scent of the roses.
However, Barcelona couldn’t celebrate the festivity on April this year, it has been postponed to July 23. But at isolutions, we have enjoyed a secret Sant Jordi 2020.
We have experienced an exchange of our favourite poems and verses between all company employees, so our colleagues in Switzerland could also get their virtual gift, as getting to know the tradition and the legend of Sant Jordi!
We have had poems in English, in Catalan, in German and in Spanish. Such a great experience!
